Top Ten Tuesday - Top Ten "Older" Books I Don't Want People To Forget About

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly book meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Today's topic is the Top Ten "Older" Books I Don't Want People To Forget About. These can be classics, books that are more recent but may be getting buried by new releases, ect.

1. The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling - There is still some flair about Harry Potter, but it really isn't as hyped up as it was. This series should never be forgotten. I have the entire series, and I have every intention of letting my children read them as they grow up.

2. The Little House on the Prairie series by Laura Ingalls Wilder - To me these books are classics. They tell a history, but they don't seem to be popular. This is another series that I own that I plan to let my children read. I grew up reading them and loving them, and I hope my kids do too.

3. The Julie Series by Jean Craighead George - I may be a little biased about these books because I absolutely love wolves, but they are amazing books. I hope that they will always be read by people.

4. Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls - Is this read in schools? I can't remember what books I had to read in school since I read so much anyway. A boy and his dogs, I mean really this should be read in schools. It is a classic, and it has so much meaning.

5. Roots by Alex Haley - Can this book even be forgotten? I shied away from it for a long time, I figured it would be boring. I was so incredibly wrong. I cannot wait until my kids are much older, so they can make it through such a long book and handle the things that are written about. This book may not even belong on this list, I hope it would never be forgotten.

6. The Little Women Series by Louisa May Alcott - More amazing books that I hope don't get lost.

7. The Giver Trilogy by Lois Lowry - With all the new dystopia that has been coming out I don't want these books to be forgotten. They were the first dystopia I ever read.

8. Good Night, Mr. Tom by Michelle Magorian - This book has both history, and it shows the good that is in people as well as the horrible effects of abuse. It should never be forgotten.

9. The Call of the Wild by Jack London - This is a classic, and it is a great one that I hope will stick around.

10. A Child Called "It" by Dave Pelzer - This book isn't for the faint of heart, it is sometimes hard to think so much horror can be in the world. Still, it should never be forgotten.

Well, there is my list. Let me know about the "older" books you don't want to see forgotten.
