Welcome to Reading It All's stop on the Hurricane Virtual Book Tour presented by Bewitching Book Tours!
Title: Hurricane
Author: Jenna-Lynne Duncan
Publisher: Divertir Publishing LLC
Publish Date: August 9, 2011
Synopsis: Adriana couldn't decide what was worse—that Hurricane Katrina was
heading for New Orleans, or that she might not survive her kidnapping to
see its potential effects. She had trusted Hayden, even fallen for him,
and now he and his brother Luke were taking her deeper and deeper into
the Bayou. Why had two of her classmates, the mysterious Boudreaux
brothers, kidnapped her? Why had Adriana's dreams started predicting the
future? Most importantly, would she make it out of the Bayou alive...
My Thoughts: Jenna-Lynne Duncan has done a a perfect job with her debut novel. I was drawn in and didn't want to stop reading. The characters were interesting, the plot was fast paced and exciting, and the timeline of Hurricane Katrina brought something extra to the book.
Adriana was a really great character. I loved her story. With no mother and a father who is never around, I think she is a very accomplished young woman. I think that Duncan hits on some typical teenage feelings with Adriana. She just wants to be normal and have friends. Adriana's dreams were really interesting. I can't wait to see, further on in the series, where her dreams lead her.
The Boudreaux brothers are just amazing. Hayden is a bit of an enigma with his on again off again feelings towards Adriana. He is sweet and caring, and he always seems to just be there when Adriana needs him. Their relationship is a little fast but as the book goes on I really loved it. Sadly we didn't get to see as much of Luke in this book. Brooding and always portrayed as upset, he is still my favorite. I think as his character is (hopefully) more explored he will continue to grow on me.
As the brothers and Adriana are running in the hurricane a whole new world is opened up to Adriana. A world full of fantasy and the paranormal, and a world that is after her. I loved this book so much. I cannot wait for the next book. I think that Duncan has written a best seller! I would recommend this book to anyone, young adult or older.
