When her friend Julia needed help forming a revenge plan against her ex-boyfriend, Ava was happy to lend a hand. She never expected that in the course of making Liam pay, she'd be the one to fall hard. . .for the one person who was absolutely off-limits. Crushing on the guy who humiliated her best friend is definitely against the girl code. Besides, Ava has goals. Her life is all about graduating with honors and landing the perfect job. And Liam Bailey—sweet-talking, complicated son of a well-known local politician—isn't part of those plans. But Liam doesn't give up easily. And he doesn't intend to let their friends' opinions, his parents' disapproval or Ava's past get in the way of what he wants--Ava's heart.
My Thoughts: I love Tawdra Kandle's books, so when she wrote Ava's story I was excited, and maybe a little skeptical. I did not see how she could redeem Liam after how he treated Julia. I was also hoping for a glimpse into Julia and Jesse's relationship.
Ava is an amazing character. I think I love her more than Julia. Ava is strong, motivated, smart, and very family oriented. I think some of the bests parts, next to parts with Liam, were as she spent time with her family. The entire vibe of the Italian family and how they all showed so much love and support was beautiful.
Liam turned into something wholly unexpected. I hoped for the best, because Tawdra has always delivered a happy ending, but I couldn't picture him as anything other than how he was in Best Served Cold. Getting to see the Liam behind the scenes, so to speak, was amazing. Seeing him through Ava's eyes as she struggled with their possible relationship was even better.
If you read Best Served Cold, don't miss out on Ava and Liam's story. If you haven't read it, then read them both. You won't regret it. Just Desserts is an awesome college love story and I didn't want it to end. Limoncello even made an appearance, which made me smile. I can't wait for whatever Tawdra writes next!
