Imperfection by Phaedra Seabolt - Review

Imperfection (Pure Blood)

At the center of a war brewing between two packs: her son
Meara Falk always followed her parents' rules, until one night in March when the temptation to let loose changed her life forever. Nine months later, disowned and with a baby on her hip, she discovers werewolves exist after being on the wrong end of some teeth and claws. During her first change, werewolves attack, stealing her son and driving her out of her home. Now she’s looking for the man who kidnapped her baby and turned her life upside down. Meara's son is in the middle of a threatened war between two powerful packs. Getting him back will jeopardize the lives of everyone she loves.

My Review: I love werewolf books, and I especially love seeing how each author will put their own spin on the legends. I couldn’t wait to see what Phaedra would come up with in Imperfection. I liked that we were given glimpses into what happened in the past to create werewolves. I also found the dynamics of the packs interesting.

I liked Meara. She was straight laced, following her parents’ rules, and just trying to make it through college. One night of fun ended in what could be a horrible mistake. I absolutely love how she handled it. Single, broke, and disowned, she sucked it up and did what she could to give herself and her baby a good life. I found her to be a very strong and like-able character. I will be really interested to see how she will grow as a werewolf, since she has already encountered obstacles.

I really enjoyed her friends, Raechel and Amanda. They liked to have fun, but they also were there for Meara as her life got tough. Leon was touch and go for me as a character. I expected to hate him, but found myself increasingly interested in what would happen next with him.

Imperfection is a fast and exciting read. It is centered mainly on Meara, but there are pieces of other characters’ stories there, too. I didn’t want to stop reading, wanting to find out what would happen to Meara and her son next. I cannot wait to read the second book and see what happens. I think lovers of adult paranormal books will enjoy this book. I do suggest that readers be 18+ due to the sexual content.
