Title: Second Nature
Author: Elizabeth Sharp
Series: Forces of Nature
Publisher: 4 Corners Press, LLC
Publish Date: December 27, 2011

Synopsis: Amelia Hoffman always knew she would be with Nathaniel Peplow forever, but after they bonded everything started to go wrong. Nate treats her like the enemy, her siblings are in danger, and an old threat grows closer. As Nate pulls away and Amelia’s burgeoning friendship with a handsome stranger blossoms, she worries she made the biggest mistake of her life. If sorting out her love life wasn’t enough, a new drug emerges that not only threatens the ones she loves, but seems to be part of something larger than she could ever imagine. Amelia’s new and old friends must work together to not only save themselves, but the whole world.

My Thoughts: Oh how I loved this book!! I started with the first book in the series, Natural Selection, and I fell in love with this story. This isn't a review on that first book but I just loved it. A definite five star must read! Second Nature is just as good, if not a little better, since all the drama kicks up a notch and there are some great new characters.

I love Lia (Amelia) so much. She just continues to impress me as a character. She is strong and she is very intelligent. I love when she is learning more about her powers and her destiny. She can really kick some butt, and this book shows that so much.

Nate is just a mess. Don't get me wrong, I love his character so much. I am totally rooting for him here, Team Nate!, but he is just screwing things up all over the place with Lia. I wanted to feel bad for him but I was pretty stinking angry at him. Pull your head out of your.......well you get the picture.

Of course while Nate is being a bit of an idiot, in walks Mister Tall, Dark, and Angel; Dylan. Well I'm going to say he is swoon worthy (sorry Nate) and I can't blame Lia for being curious. He is sweet, caring, and he is willing to be patient for her to be ready. Yep, he's a dream.

I love that Sharp does not just focus on specific characters. While this story is primarily about Lia, we still get to see so much of Sariah and Xander's lives. I am so happy that Sariah is finding her own in this book. She is growing, too, and I love who she is becoming. Xander is the ever protective older brother. He is one of my absolute favorite characters.

This book is just a crazy ride! So much adventure, romance, and drama. I love all the paranormal aspects that Sharp writes about. The world of Forces of Nature just keeps growing and getting better! I think this series is a major must read. I cannot wait to read the next book. I can only imagine what will happen next!

  3. Thank you so much for having me. I have to admit, Xander is my favorite character too. Once I finish the last book in the series, my next project will be a book from his point of view, which takes place after all the drama of this series.

  4. I've enjoyed both books, although I can't decide if I'm on Team Nate or not. How about Team Lia??

And, I completely agree that having good character development over the series makes it much more appealing.

    1. I have a tendency to pick the bad boy or the troubled one(I'm completely Team Damon on the Vampire Diaries). I felt like Dylan was just too good. I am holding out that Nate will redeem himself in the next book.

  5. What a great review. I read this book and you are right on with your perspective. I agree that Nate was a horse's arse to Lia. Some boys don't learn.
