Fezariu's Epiphany by David M. Brown - Review

Welcome to the third stop on the Fezariu's Epiphany tour brought to you by Enchanted Book Tours!

Synopsis: 12-year-old Fezariu thought his mother died when he was little, but when his beloved stepfather dies the boy discovers she is alive and well - and working at the most famous brothel in all of Elenchera. When she cruelly rejects him it's more than he can bear, and he runs away to join a band of ruthless soldiers for hire. The Merelax Mercenaries will fight for anyone who can pay them, no matter the justice of the cause.

Fezariu grows up among the soldiers and becomes one of them. He thinks his time with the mercenaries has hardened him. But a campaign in his old home town pushes him too far, and he discovers what really happened to his mother. Maybe there are some things money shouldn't buy... and maybe it's time Fezariu took his revenge.

My Thoughts: I haven't read many epic fantasies but Fezariu's Epiphany by David M. Brown pulled me in and kept me wanting more. I didn't want to put this book down, and I was sad to see it end.

Fezariu is an amazing character. His fears and worries are something people can relate to. As he struggles to leave his hard past behind he becomes a well respected mercenary. His journey in life is full of obstacles but he overcomes them all. I felt bad for Fezariu at times. He truly got dealt a rough hand in life.

Alycea is another wonderful character. Her life is equally as difficult as Fezariu's. She may stay and work in the bakery with her uncle, but she suffers from the same losses in her life. She is a strong girl, and I loved the parts of her story.

The many other character's in this story all have great depth. Jessamine's story was so heartbreaking. Will Birchill was evil, and Brown did a great job of making me hate him. Fezariu's fellow mercenaries were fun to read about. The entire world of Elenchera was beautifully written. Brown created a wonderful world for his characters to live.

I enjoyed reading this book, and I am anxiously awaiting the next book in The Elencheran Chronicles!
