Intangible by J. Meyers - Review

Title: Intangible
Author: J. Meyers
Publish Date: January 29, 2012
Pages: 348

Synopsis: Twins Sera and Luke Raine have a well-kept secret--she heals with a touch of her hand, he sees the future. All their lives they've helped those in need on the sly. They've always thought of their abilities as being a gift.

Then Luke has a vision that Sera is killed. That gift they've always cherished begins to feel an awful lot like a curse. Because the thing about Luke's ability? He's always right.

And he can't do anything about it.

My Thoughts: I love reading debut authors. J. Meyers has reminded me why. Intangible is her first novel and she did such an amazing job. Another Indie author who has knocked it out of the park. Intangible was well thought out and perfectly executed. I could tell that J. Meyer  put a lot of effort, research, and love into this book. Readers are sure to fall in love with Sera and Luke. I know I did.

Sera and Luke have such a fascinating relationship as twins. I have twins, and I hope their bond is as strong (although I doubt they will be paranormal). I loved reading about their struggles with their gifts. I cannot imagine hiding something that is such a big part of who you are from everyone else in the world. They helped each other through it. They have a fun relationship despite all of the stress their gifts cause. Their joking and loving nature was so great to read about.

The many other characters who make up this story's cast were very interesting. I enjoyed Fey, and her protectiveness. Jonas was interesting. His struggle with his humanity was very well written. He turned into one of my favorites in this book. Marc was a different story. I almost wonder where his story will go. I hope we will read about him again. He frustrated me a bit but then, I've never....well lets just say he goes through a lot. Quinn wasn't talked about a whole bunch but I hope his character is more involved later. He seems like a cocky guy who will be fun to read about.

All the paranormal aspects of this book were awesome. There were so many things touched on, such as vampires, elves, and the Gifteds. J. Meyers created a world that could unfold into anything. She created back story and explained a lot about each race. I am excited to see what other Gifteds we will see in the next book and if any more paranormal races will join the series.

This is an amazing YA paranormal novel. A definite must read for anyone who enjoys that genre. There is so much suspense, adventures, some romance, and rescue missions. It was fast paced and fun. I absolutely loved this book and I am excited for the next book in the series. If only it was ready now. The suspense is horrible.

Until Next Time by Amy Lignor - Review

Welcome to Reading It All's stop on the Until Next Time tour brought to you by Tribute Books.

Title: Until Next Time
Author: Amy Lignor
Series & Sequence: The Angel Chronicles Book 1
Publisher: Tribute Books
Publication Date: February 1, 2012
Pages: 295

Synopsis: How does a girl choose between the one who steals her heart and the one who owns her soul?

Matt and Emily were created for a specific job. Raised and trained as the ultimate angel/warrior team, they are sent down to save, defend, judge and forgive, depending on the 'life' they've been assigned. What they don't realize is that the power of human emotions, such as love, anger, passion and fear can take over even the best of souls, causing them to make mistakes and follow paths that lead to confusion and heartache.

When the reason for their training is finally revealed, the angel/warrior team find themselves thrust into a world they know nothing about. Matt takes over the life of Daniel, a young man with a great deal of baggage. Emily becomes Liz, a girl living in a remote village who relies on nothing more than her own strength to survive. A violent storm erupts one night, and framed in the window of Liz's establishment is a frightening face. Let in by the soul of a Good Samaritan, the two visitors bring with them a past full of secrets that could literally change an angel's path and a warrior's plans.

From murder to redemption, this angel/warrior team must find a way to keep the faith they have in each other in a world that's ripping them apart.

My Thoughts: I'm not sure how to write this review. I am in a little bit of awe from reading this book. I wonder how an author like Amy Lignor has escaped my notice. It took a day to read this book. Not because it was too short but because it was so amazing I hated putting it down. I found myself taking my kindle with me around the house as I did things, just in case I had a spare minute to continue reading.

The look into the lives of the angels was so amazing. I enjoyed how all the different angels acted. They were funny at times, and serious other times. I could tell that they all cared deeply for Matt and Emily and only wanted them to succeed without being hurt. The Heaven that Lignor told about sounds like a beautiful place.

Emily as an angel is strong and sure. Before she was sent to Earth as Liz she seemed like a very fun angel. Liz changed her, made her more serious and more troubled. While she is Liz she is still strong but plagued by her horrible past. I felt so sorry for her. Her struggles as Liz and then as Emily were hard. Her feelings for Matt and Jason were equally difficult.

Matt...well if this were a team picking book I would be team Matt. He just sounds amazing. I love how he forgives Emily for everything, and he loves her so deeply. He may seem emotional at times but I felt like he was truly Emily's rock. With him she felt stronger and knew she wasn't alone. As Daniel he was still amazing. I suppose that would make me Team Matt/Daniel.

Jason was a sweetheart. He's no Matt, but he cares so much for Liz and he just wants her love. I like his character a lot. Charles and Faith made me laugh. They were a perfect flirty mess. Both were funny and outspoken. They gave the book something extra.

I cannot begin to tell you how much I recommend this book. It was just perfectly written, in my opinion. There were adventures and romance. It makes me wish I had a six star rating. I will be anxiously waiting for the next book in The Angel Chronicles.

Shadow of the Witte Wieven by Debbie Peterson - Review

Welcome to Reading It All's stop on the Shadow of the Witte Wieven tour brought to you by Enchanted Book Promotions.

Title: Shadow of the Witte Wieven
Author: Debbie Peterson
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Publisher: InkSpell Publishing
Publication Date: April 21, 2012
Format: eBook

Synopsis: Despite a contract on her head, lone Drug Enforcement Agent, Aliyana Montijo must ferret out a mole and stop the assassination of top DEA officials, as so ordered by the Colombian drug lord she seeks to take down. The task is a daunting one, for there is no one she can trust. No one that is, until she encounters a most unlikely ally. Former seventeenth century captain of the Dutch West Indies Company, Wolfaert Dircksen Van Ness, now from a parallel dimension, encounters the beautiful agent during an unearthly storm in the Bermuda triangle. Drawn to the Spanish beauty he rescues, he pledges his assistance, despite her reluctance to accept either his help or his heart. Can Wolf bridge both space and time to claim the woman he loves?

My Thoughts: This was so interesting. I love how Debbie Peterson took every day superstitions, like the Bermuda triangle, and turned them into this amazing story. I really enjoyed that part of this book a lot.

The relationship between Aliyana and Wolf was so much fun to read. I found myself really rooting for Wolf. Aliyana always seemed too afraid to admit her feelings, and I was highly entertained with her jealousy during one part.

This was a book full of interesting characters, daring missions, and romance. I enjoyed every moment, and I absolutely loved the ending. I wonder, will this be the last voyage for the Witte Wieven, or will Peterson choose to continue the story. Either way, this book is now tucked among my favorites.

Top Ten Tuesday - Top Ten Books I'd Play Hooky With

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly book meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week I will be sharing my Top Ten Books I'd Play Hooky With. Really if a book is captivating, I would be willing to play hooky, if I had a job outside the home. This list could be forever long. Lets see if I can limit it to ten (sort of).

1. Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling. Notice I didn't say which one. That's because I would stop everything to read this entire series. Thank goodness I am a fast reader. Once I start this series I can't stop until I've read them all.

2. The Host by Stephenie Meyer. This book is just amazing. Sorry Twilight fans (and I'm one of you) but this book is the best she has written so far. I can't wait for the movie! I would most definitely miss something for this book.

3. Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer. Yeah, I'd stop working for these books, too. I really do love Twilight.

4. The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins. I may have just finished these but I would drop everything to read them again. Amazing books!

5. The Left Behind series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. I love this series, and eventually I want to get them for my kindle so I can read them whenever I want.

6. Roots by Alex Haley. I love Roots. It is such an amazing book full of history. I like to read it at least once a year, and I usually drop everything for it.

7. Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini. Dragons! Yep that about covers it. Well that and elves and magic and dwarves.

8. Maximum Ride series by James Patterson. I love these books. Really I love everything James Patterson writes, and I would play hooky to read any of his books.

9. Thoughtless and Effortless by S.C. Stephens. I love reading about Kellan and Kiera. This is another author that I would stop everything to read any of her books. S.C. Stephens is proof that you should never over look an Indie author!

10. Good Night Mr. Tom by Michelle Magorian. I love this book, and when I read it I tend to drop everything else. It is such a beautiful story.

Yes, I know, most of these are series. I just can't stop at one book in a series, once I start I have to finish. Be sure to stop by next Tuesday, I will be posting my Top Ten Books To Read In A Day! So what books would you play hooky for? Let me know in the comments.
